Producer Saif talks Love (and his career) Aaj Kal

“You have got to believe me when I say that none of the directors listen to me. Imitaz felt that Deepika suited the role better [than Kareena].”
Above, Saif Ali Khan responds to why his lady love du jour was not cast opposite him in the upcoming romantic drama Love Aaj Kal. Not only is it the much anticipated third film of Jab We Met’s director Imtiaz Ali, but Saif also produces for the first time, in addition to playing the lead opposite Deepika Padukone and Rishi Kapoor.
This new project has the Omkara actor all fired up; he has realized that the Bollywood market is different now (from when he first started 18 years ago!!), and ripe for actors to venture out, learn more about the business, and take on more responsibilities.
According to Saif in an interview with RealBollywood.com, Love Aaj Kal is “about Jai who does not believe in love and is practical. He believes that long distance relationship is a pain, so why not just be friends and not follow the heart. He comes across a person who tells him what love is all about.”
Sounds real original there Saif (it is allegedly a remake of a 2005 Taiwanese film called Three Times), but if Imtiaz has worked some of that Jab We Met magic, then we might have some hope for this one! But until it releases at the end of July, read Saif’s complete interview from Realbollywood.com.

I’m glad it’s Deepika in this movie instead of Kareena. I find Saif and her as a couple just too weird. They do not fit together.
